“The global population of humans are still growing. At the same time, we are facing increasing threats form climate change while that amount of arable land is decreasing and yield increases are leveling off. Over time, the threat of pests and pathogens to crops are increasing. The ratio between actual and potential pathogens and pests are increasing, which means that crops are coming under harsher pressure from them.

How are we going to handle these trends and what challenges do we face in the future? How can we create effective and high-yielding agricultural production systems that are also sustainable? How can we make farming more robust and resilient to environmental challenges? What roles will political policy and international agreements play?”
